In Section 1 of this course you will cover these topics: Fourth amendment standards: probable cause to search, warrants and exceptions. Stop and frisk: the legal standards. In Section 2 of this course you will cover these topics: Arrest and seizure of the person. Fourth amendment searches and seizures: houses, persons, motor vehicles and effects. In Section 3 of this exam you will be evaluated on below listed topics: Special problem searches: administrative, inventory, school, work, airport, and border searches. Principles of the exclusionary rule: remedies and exceptions to constitutional violations. In Section 4 of this course you will cover these topics: Miranda principles: fifth and sixth amendment influences on police practice. Confession and the privilege against self-incrimination. In Section 5 of this course you will cover these topics: Eyewitness identification procedures: due process considerations. The decision to prosecute: indictment and information. Plea bargaining and guilty pleas: constitutional standards. Pretrial criminal procedure: preliminary hearing, bail, right to counsel, speedy trial, double jeopardy, and collateral estoppel. The trial: constitutional rights and trial practice: jury trial, right to counsel, due process, and equal protection. Appellate practice and other post-trial remedies.
